about me

Creator. Thinker. Design Boss.

With 10+ years of graphic design experience and a background in integrated marketing communications, I am a creative problem-solver with a passion for communicating through thoughtful, strategic design.

“Great design isn’t just about creating something that looks pretty. The key to success is designing with the holistic customer experience in mind. When intentional strategy and clear identity synchronize to inform the audience and drive action, that’s when you’ve reached an effective and beautiful design.”

A creator and nerd at heart, I discovered my love for design in high school, as the perfect meld between my interests in digital technology and art. I began experimenting with design in Microsoft Word (eek!), then dove in to teach myself an outdated version of Photoshop that I managed to get her hands on, and eventually, I attended Ithaca College where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications and a minor in Still Photography.

Born and raised in the Finger Lakes region, I have always aspired to help local businesses thrive through polished branding, marketing, and design. I spent five years as the Marketing & Communications Specialist at Finger Lakes Wine Country, where I worked with regional businesses and community leaders to brand the destination and promote its experiences to visitors and residents. Currently, I am the Strategic Design Boss for The Brand Boss Studio, where I help business owners tap into their true, authentic brand identity to own their difference and show up powerfully in the marketplace.

I am also a maker with a passion for crafting a variety of handmade items for my brand Honeybee Handmade. I sell my handcrafted items at a local store and at events throughout the year.

You can add Rainmaker and Amazon seller as additional titles of mine as well. I am a member of The Rainmaker Family, both as an entrepreneur selling products via Amazon FBA and as a Support Sister helping new Rainmakers get started with their journey.

When I'm not behind my computer, I can be found crafting, listening to podcasts, binge-watching reality competition shows, visiting local breweries, and spending time with my family and dog, Lola.

Why honeybees?

In Greek, Melissa means Honeybee.

And anyone who thinks little things don't make a difference has never met a honeybee.
Just like a busy honeybee, I put love into every detail I create.
